In a world where startups seem to be the norm, this month we focus on the traditional family business. Not the little shop on the corner where grandma and the grandchildren stand behind the counter, but the internationally operating family business Terberg.

The company develops, produces, and modifies special transport vehicles and loading systems for intensive use. For example, all garbage trucks in Madrid and Barcelona are made by Terberg. With a turnover of 1.5 billion, factories in Malaysia and the United States, they are the largest company in Europe in this sector.

The family has been working together for 156 years. How is cooperation within the family? Are there intrigues like in the series Bloedverwanten (2010-2014)? How do they separate business and personal matters? Does the “new” generation want to continue the company?

Isa Verweijen talks about the ins and outs of the family business and important business decisions such as the expansion to Spain made four years ago. There is also focus on significant developments and associated challenges in the transport and logistics sector and how Terberg deals with them.
